2-Day Teacher Training

Saturday, July 20 - Sunday, July 21 (9 a.m. - 1 p.m. both days)
El Camino Hospital
2500 Grant Rd., Mountain View, CA 94040

NAMI California will conduct the next NAMI Smarts Teacher Training Saturday, July 20th-Sunday, July 21st in Santa Clara County. Through this training, peers, family members and stakeholders will learn how to teach and deliver the NAMI Smarts program with Affiliates, individuals and families across the state. The program will ultimately boost grassroots advocacy and enhance local/state policy engagements.

NAMI Smarts is a hands-on advocacy training program that helps individuals and families transform their passion and lived experience into skillful grassroots advocacy. This curriculum is taught as a series of modules or as a single full-day training. Modules are designed to teach individuals how to: tell a compelling and inspiring story that makes an “ask” in 90 seconds; create an effective email, elevator speech, and phone call; and engage successfully in meetings with elected officials. Additional modules discuss mental health parity and protecting choice.

Make your voice heard and help your community share theirs as well!

To participate in the training, individuals must:

  • Fully complete the online application

  • Receive approval from Affiliate Leader

  • Agree to participate in the full training and commit to 2 presentations over 1-year span
